3 P’s for Improving Productivity!
General George Patton once said something like, “If I
spend one hour planning and preparing for a battle,
I’ll spend four hours taking the target; however, if I
spend four hours in planning and preparing for battle,
I’ll spend one hour taking the target.” I think there is
wisdom in this thought for professional
trainers.
There is no substitute for preparing, planning and
practicing. Typically, I spend four hours in preparing,
planning, and practicing for every one hour I spend in
a classroom, especially if I am working with new
content and/or a new company. Of course, the time
I spend decreases if I do the same class over and
over; however, it never drops below a 1:1
ratio.
The three P’s—Planning, Preparation, and Practicing—
are the three keys to a successful delivery.
Planning, preparing, and practicing demonstrate your
competence, which in turn supports your confidence.
Together, they will communicate a real passion for
your message and your audience. Most of all, you’ll
be more productive and have a great time helping
others learn! |
